In " The Yellow Wall-Paper” by Charlotte Kendrick Gilman, a mother with post partum depression is definitely stuck between four wall surfaces and can only vent through dog pen and daily news. Her composing styles through her journal entries become more and more remarkable and brilliant, and everything that the narrator does means something.

Catherine Golden, creator of " The Writing of 'The Yellow Wallpaper: A Dual Palimpsest” creates about how the narrator, perhaps Jane, refers to her hubby as " he” a lot more than " John” (Golden, 6). Her dialect in the publishing comes from you dominant position in her life. Since John can be described as physician he controls the narrator's bed rest and abilities to accomplish things. The narrator will write in such a way where she is oppressed the natural way (Golden, 4). Golden as well points out how the author refers to John multiple times but refers to herself because " I” or " myself” or perhaps " me” rather than by simply her very own name. The narrator uses " me” more than " I, ” though, " intensifying her awkward setting in her sentence and society” (Golden, 7). If the narrator refers to herself while " one” in the first entry she actually is conveying her helplessness and her " inability to change her unpleasant situation” (Golden, 8).

" More than the tone of writing or perhaps pronoun consumption, the placement of pronouns through this closing section reveals the narrator's developing sense of awareness of her former obedient, compliant, acquiescent, subservient, docile, meek, dutiful, tractable state and a reversal of the electrical power dynamics of gender” (Golden, 16). The writer begins to connect herself while using woman inside the wallpaper. Initially the woman was just a figment of her imagination, but as she became more and more trapped in the room, over in the wallpapers revealed their self more and more. At the conclusion of the records the narrator becomes even more vivid and descriptive of her area (Golden, 18).
