Hero- a person, typically a male, who is popular or idealized for courage, outstanding achievements, or respectable qualities. In modern day society an epic leading man is a larger than life person who has spectacular abilities and has some kind of antagonistic foe that that he/she needs to battle with. Unfortunately the character Odysseus from Homer's Odyssey would not fit the example of a modern day epic hero mainly because he's conceded, non flexible and this individual cares about him self over the lives of his crewmates.

A big reason Odysseus would not fit this part is that he's too conceited. An example of this is how Odysseus yells back at Polyphemphus declaring " 'O Cyclops! Do you feast in the companions? Weak, am I, in a caveman's hands. How do you just like the beating that people gave you, you darned cannibal? Chef of visitor under your roofing! Zeus and the gods paid you! ”(Homer, page 768) for vengeance believing has in the crystal clear and almost gets him fantastic mates slain by the gruesome Cyclopes. One more incident is he chose to not tell his guys his lot of money that he would be the only man to come back home as well as the rest would die, and this causes half a dozen of his men to die with the straight, as well as the rest to die following starving and finally deciding to murder Helios's cattle. Also he could have saved his men by just telling his men his fortune and giving them a chance to survive. Subsequent he would do anything to return to his home to come back back to his kingdom, also after exactly what happens this individual stills make an effort to return home, like his fortune, the Cyclopes, Circe's island, those straight, and other causes. A comparison you may make that tell a difference from charlie to another fictional hero is usually " Batman" in certain info; an example of this is that Batman would place others before his own good. And Odysseus would give up other folks for a foolish return house that doesn't impact much.

Another reason can be Odysseus probably would not fit the build of a modern day impressive hero is the fact his is the fact he is not any forgiving. An example of this...
